AGRICULTURAL CENSUS 

                        The first Agricultural Census in India was conducted in 1970-71, a separate census, however, was not undertaken for Mizoram as it was merely a part of Assam State. After attaining the Status of UT in 1972 Mizoram participated in the Agriculture Census for the first time in 1976-1977, i.e. the second Agricultural Census in India. Since then, Agricultural Census had been conducted regularly in Mizoram as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The estimated number of holdings and operated area as per agricultural census are mentioned as follows :-
